Frank was born on August 29, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Sandor and Anna Petrik Sepesy. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1943. He served in the Navy during WWII and Korea as a 2nd Class cook and was a survivor of the aircraft carrier USS Franklin, that was bombed outside of Toyko. That bombing was the most destructive attack on a capital ship during the war. Upon returning home, he worked at the youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. in the seamless mill for 5 years and the rest of the 40 years in the machine shop before retiring in 1977; at the same time he was also a school bus driver for St. Nicholas School and Struthers School System for 50 years.
Frank was a member of St. Nicholas Church and it’s Holy Name Society, where he was known as the Egg Man, because he prepared the eggs at the Sunday breakfast. He was also a volunteer at the church’s yearly festival and he was member of the Salem Jubilee Barber Shop Chorus. He was a member of the Amvets Post #44 in Youngstown and volunteered at the Veteran’s Booth at the Canfield Fair every year. He also purchased a brick for the War Memorial in Struthers. Frank was a part of the group of retired mill workers that went to the Whats Cookin Restaurant on Wednesdays. He was an avid bowler and loved to sing, dance and play cards. He also enjoyed baking pies and hotcakes.
Frank married the former Catherine M. Grewe on September 12, 1953; she passed away on September 5, 1992.
He is survived by his two daughters, Ann (Joe) Rouzzo of Lowellville, OH, Frank (Ralph) White of Charlotte, North Carolina; three brothers, Steve Sepesy of Youngstown, OH, Alexander Sepesy of Struthers and Richard Sepesy of Youngstown, OH and five grandchildren Nicole and Dustin McMaster, Candace (Tim) Cauthen, Marie (Jeff) Howard and Doug (Rachel) White and two great-grandchildren Jacob and Lilly.
